Gibraltar's Chess Club

There has been a surge in chess going now for eight years running we have had the envios events of the Gibraltar CHESS congress at the Caleta Hotel .

Our players have done us proud once mor and proof is the gaining of second place at the amateurs by Freddie Poggio and Luis Manneto who also were accompanied by Luis Raffo, Alan Gravette, Tom Bath and Mario Garcia.

In the challengers we also had Young Jr Master Stephen Whatley only 10 years not yet gained but givin his opponents a going for heir money, also attempting a few games was Mr ogelio Lozano nephew Jamie gaiing a few points in the amateurs.

We have been talking about reviving the Patron Cup last fought for soe 20 years ago and plans are being arranged t host a series of matches with Mr calahans and Francos help at the caleta later tis year

Mr Jim Feeney who I am glad to say is hobbling rather better latley is arranging a tem from the RAC to visit soon and this time we will take te rophy if we can, Jim.

Hopefully Stanley Olivero will be back on his feet and assis us with this match.

There have been a new nmber of players ariving in the club Mr Andy Sene is a strng player and enjoy a good match, Mr Denis Ellus nephew of Mr Luis Manneto is getting back from the cold not having played for many yearsa giving up squash he says and very pleased with his progress, things are coming back he says.

Yours truly, havent won a decent game for a while but enjoy a good scrap.
